Stanford Electrophysiology Rotation

Electrophysiology Rotation Guide

Welcome to the EP rotation here at Stanford. The interventional cardiology rotation is based at the Interventional Radiology Suites at Stanford University Hospital. During this 2 week rotation you should become comfortable in modern anesthetic techniques for a variety of interventional cardiology procedures such as: ablations including for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia in addition to pacemaker and defibrillator placements.

Couse outline:

During the 2 week rotation we would like you to cover the following topics with you attending:

Day 1

Orientation to the Cath lab.

Day 2

Electrophysiology cardiac cycle-action potentials, impulse initiation/propagation, ion channels; cardiac conduction system, heart rate control

Day 3

Day 4

Anesthetic considerations for ablation procedures

Day 5

Catch up and feedback

Day 6

Basic TEE safety and indications in cath lab

Day 7

Pacemakers part 1 -indications

Day 8

Pacemakers Part 2 –anesthetic considerations

Day 9

Radiation safety

Day 10

Catch  up and feedback
